FAQ's

Where did Firelands get its name? During the Revolutionary War, families whose homes and land were burned to the ground by the enemy’s scorched earth warfare were granted homesteads in this region. These land grants were called “The Western Reserve” or “Firelands,” and they provided many American colonists with a fresh start and an opportunity to rebuild their lives. Today, Firelands Church carries this same pioneering spirit during a time of great shaking and reformation. As we prayerfully considered a name change, the Lord led us to redeem the land and take His name. “For our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29).

The Prayer Room is the heart of Firelands—a sacred space where Jesus is central and constant communion with God is cultivated. Set apart for ongoing worship and intercession, it’s not a side room of the church—it’s the engine. We believe prayer is not just preparation for ministry; it is the ministry. As we minister to the Lord through adoration and agreement with His Word, He transforms us, aligns our hearts with His, releases His power in our city, and heals the land.

At Firelands, we believe church is meant to be experienced as a family. Throughout Scripture, we see generations gathered together in the presence of God, and we want our children to grow up knowing they belong there too. There is no junior Holy Spirit—children can know God, hear His voice, worship Him, and participate in the life of His Church. We prioritize families worshiping and encountering God together, while offering childcare for ages 1–5 during the teaching portion of service. Our heart is to raise sons and daughters who don’t simply attend church, but learn to love the presence of God alongside the generations before them.

Firelands School of Ministry is a one-year discipleship intensive designed to equip believers with a strong biblical foundation, deepen intimacy with Jesus, cultivate wholeness in identity, and empower them to walk confidently in their calling. Through Spirit-led teaching, worship, ministry, and authentic community, students grow in their knowledge of Scripture and learn to live out their faith with confidence and authority. From marriage and family to healing and deliverance, revival and reformation, our mission is to raise up mature disciples who bring the Kingdom of God into their homes, communities, and every sphere of life.
